Self portrait

Grateful for spring, friends & family, dogs (always), and the sense of rebirth! Easter Poem: Just like the circumference of an egg, the shape of history is circular, it does not advance, it returns. A serpent feeding on its own forgetting, each age convinced it is the first to weep. Humanity learns slowly and forgets with astonishing speed. Still, the world blooms again. Now, now, more than ever, we are called not to turn away. Not to grow a second skin against the ache of the world. We are asked to soften. To become vast inside, room enough to hold the sorrow of strangers and still Light a candle at dusk Joy is not frivolous. It is a form of resistance. A daily choosing. It does not shield us from the world, it roots us in it. Joy makes resilience possible, for ourselves and for the trembling hands we hold. This life, a braid of terror and beauty, asks us not for certainty, but for presence. To walk willingly into the mystery again and again, as the stone rolls away, as the light enters the tomb.

I keep signing up to get Schwartzed because while there’s usually some bushwhacking and shenanigans involved, it’s always a real adventure. And this was definitely that. We went the long way to Eocene, saw the Sawtooth Range from a new perspective, tagged a new summit (for me), and even found some good spring snow. There was some fun scrambling, some hilarious flailing through bushes (always), some sexy corn turns, and lots of smiles. It was an amazing day. I’ve been reflecting lately that now, more than ever, it’s so important to cultivate joy. This is one way I do it! This is my church, my happy place. It’s such a privilege being out in the mountains with @thebackcountry - I always learn so much and have so much fun. Thank you, Mike. 🙏🏼 And it was so fun riding with you @itsellis, Marty and @log__boy_ ! Thanks for a great weekend, hope to shred with y’all again real soon!
