Traveling solo to get dropped off by heli deep in the wilderness with a bunch of complete strangers, to climb mountains and ski on glaciers, probably sounds like a nightmare to some. For me, it was a dream come true. I gained a lot during our week at snowfall lodge - weight (thanks, Julie!), experience, awesome memories, and most importantly, a bunch of new friends. Sitting in the hotel airport before I fly home reflecting on how lucky I am to have connected with these amazing human beings in such a magical place. Hot damn, it was something special! I am forever grateful. 🙏🏼❤️⛷️🏔️

Friday / day 7 at snowfall. @thebackcountry , @itsellis , @ramblin_pj , and I woke up thirsty for new terrain and new views. While most of the crew went back towards Troy pass, we decided to cook up a new adventure — our goal was to get up towards the north illusion glacier via “pizza pass” (an unnamed pass until today). Started the day off with more sketchy skinning through steep frozen slopes. Made it up to the pass using ice axes, weird binding to snow techniques, and post holing. Got up to the pass and had a pizza party! Skied some fun packed pow down Basque Bowl. Then we started skinning towards north illusion glacier and the light got flat, dark clouds loomed, and rock fall above us created some vibes that got me a little spooked. It was the first day I had to manage a bit of fear. I felt far away from home and so small in the big mountains. We turned back once we got to the glacier, skinning and boot packing back towards pizza pass. And we got to harvest some sweeeet California-like corn on the way down. It was so fucking fun! Had such a blast with the boys today. It was an epic way to end our week! New terrain, new views, a real adventure! Came back to the lodge, celebrated with the whole crew, drank more glacier margaritas (and everything else we had left! 😂), sang more songs, ate more amazing food, and basked in the sweet and lovely feelings from a week of friendship, adventure, and fun. It was a good last day! ❤️

Thursday / day 6 at Snowfall. Woke up to snow falling outside and decided to have a lazy morning. Ate breakfast and hung out in our pajamas huddled around a phone to watch a sweet ski movie featuring @lorenzoworster . Took a nap, finished my book, played some games, shared some giggles. Then we decided to SKI! And got a bit of fresh powder to enjoy! Came back to the hut, took a long sauna, had a canned cocktail, and sang and played guitar with the friends. Talked to my boo via FaceTime, enjoyed a pizza party, shared more giggles, watched the sunset, drank a margarita made with 10,000 year old Beowulf glacier ice. Then got into bed to write up this sweet little memory. I am whole and I am happy.

Wednesday / Day 5 at Snowfall. Illusion Peak Summit and into the Beowulf glacier. We started off the day skinning up rotten, crusty snow, ski crampons providing the 4 wheel drive necessary to make it to an ice cave at the base of the glacier. We made it to the bergshrund and descended beneath 10,000 year old ice. It was a magical experience. No words can convey the feeling. Then a handful of us broke off to climb Illusion Peak. The climb was breathtaking and invigorating, as we navigated some steep skinning through no fall zones. I had to told back happy tears at the summit. The beauty was beyond anything I’ve ever seen. The ski down was mixed at first, with some breakable crust and icy bits. And then we found the south facing money pitches that offered up some sweet California-like corn. It was so good we had to take another lap. It was a 5k, five-star day! And we were celebrating @itsellis bday! It’s so good to be alive and adventuring with these amazing humans! Thank you @thebackcountry for making this magic happen, planning our routes, encouraging us, teaching us, and just being all around awesome. Also thank you @lorenzoworster and @paulhoneywell for your help and encouragement in the sketchy skinning sections today. Y’all are such amazing human beings and I feel beyond blessed to share these experiences with you. I’m so high on life from today and this whole week. ❤️❤️❤️ Click for video:

Tuesday / day 4 at Snowfall. Started the day with moody skies and crusty skinning. Went up to a money pitch from yesterday and dropped into pure cement. The snow was totally awful at all aspects, due to intense warming yesterday and today. It was survival skiing all the way back to the lodge, navigating through roller balls and avoiding little wet slides. While the snow was shit, the mood of the group was still an A+. We got back to the lodge, read books, took naps, steamed in the sauna, ate snacks, played games, drank whiskey, played guitar and sang songs. We are also celebrating Alex’s bday today! Even with crap snow, it was an awesome day! Click for video:

Monday / Day 3 at Snowfall Lodge. We started the day off by playing an April Fools joke on ourselves, with some extreme skinning and shenanigans, working towards a goal that didn’t end up working out. We turned back and went back to the cabin. Patrick, Tim, Ellis, Tony and I peeled off immediately and started climbing up towards Troy pass. We took one fun short powder lap off a steep little ridge line then met up with the rest of the group to climb up Troy pass to ski powder laps. The views were bananas! Sunshine, views, and powder all day! When we got home we lounged in the sun on the deck, basking in the beauty of the mountains and the awesome day we manifested. I love this group of people who were strangers just a couple days ago and now feel like family. I am so damn lucky! This day was 15/10.
